The CONFINE Integrated Project

Open Source P2P Streaming (OSPS)

Welcome to the Open Source P2P Streaming (OSPS) wiki home page!

The goal of the OSPS experiment is demonstrating that Community Networks can support advanced multimedia services such as real-time video and TV distribution. The study of efficient video streaming techniques on Community Networks is not only a challenging and timely research topic but its result will also leave to the community a new service to increase the value of the network and better serve the community.

This project focuses on PeerStreamer, an open source P2P Media Streaming framework written in C, developed as part of the NAPA-WINE European research project. It includes a streaming engine for the efficient distribution of media streams, a source application for the creation of channels and a player applications to visualize the streams.

OSPS will produce a stable version of the application tailored for Community Networks that will remain available to users and to CONFINE in particular.

The project is developed and maintained by the SAN group of DISI in the University of Trento, coordinated by Renato Lo Cigno.
